It looks like Streamate has done away with free preview. Logged out users will now only be able to see a blurred image with sound unless they create a member account. I don't know if Streamate is blurred in every state, but some states have recently passed age verification laws to limit the exposure of pornography to minors. Streamate didn't communicate their plans with models so this is really unexpected and shocking.
What are your guy's thoughts? I have mixed feelings. It will encourage signups, since you can no longer browse as a guest. And I'm pretty sure Streamate requires a credit card on file to join. On the other hand, it could be harder to entice men to join when they can't see models.
Honestly, I'm worried... but more about the bigger picture, of why we keep seeing legislation like this.
I believe this is going to weed out a lot of cammodels, who don't want to sit in free chat with less activity happening. I already am not a huge fan of Streamate, I prefer sites where you don't have to be live, like Niteflirt/SextPanther/Phrendly.
So it's likely that the Streamate traffic will slow down a bit, some cammodels will leave, and those of us who stick around, will probably still make decent money.
But... it's happening alongside a lot of other legislation, that's basically anti-sex work, anti-woman, anti-LGBT... you've got book bans in places like Texas... it's just more of the same.
It's starting to remind me of FOSTA/SESTA. Which sucked, but really didn't affect my earnings, personally. I remember the sex work world panicking about the legislation, but the reality is... the customers never leave. They will always come back.
I also think if cam site blurring becomes widespread, that's just going to push more sex workers onto sites without livestream, or onto vanilla social media, as well as fan sites. That part is already happening. Just scrolling through TikTok or Twitch, sooo many people have a link tree with OnlyFans.
I could ramble on further, but that's probably enough for today, haha. I'm worried, but I think we will be OK financially.
